Guest guest
Oh my God! I could have written this post. Congratulations first of all to you and your family. I cannot believe that this exact thing happen to me. And get this, our due dates are the same. Here goes my story...... I had LAP/RNY on 6/30/03. In the first six months I lost 100 pounds. At my six month check up the doc said all blood work was fine and I was on the right track. I informed her that I had not had a period in awhile and she said it was perfectly normal due to the weight loss. So, two months later, my belly begin to get big and my hubby of 16 yrs. insisted that we get a home pregnancy test. To our surprise, it was positive. Like you we rushed to the doctor and got the blood test. (Immediately getting an ultrasound because they knew I was far along.) To our surprise, I was 5 1/2 months pregnant. I never got sick one time, nor did I gain any weight. Immediately, like you, I started thinking the medications, etc. that I'd taken and wondered how the baby could be healthy with me eating so little. I was assured that she was fine and according to the sonogram, was a perfect size for the time frame. Our lives changed in an instance. I truly thought I could not have kids. I've never been pregnant. I too found out the sex of the baby. It's a girl! However, I got pregnant exactly three months out from surgery. So, a lot of things were going through my mind. I'm nervous all the time about her health, but is constantly reassured by the OBGYN that's she fine. Can you believe that my due date is June 16th as well. The sonogram tech says it's 6/16 and the OB says it's 6/22. We had so much to do in so little time. Please e- mail me personally if you'd like. I'm so excited for us. It's truly great to know that I'm not the only person in the world that went through almost six months of pregnancy without knowing. Good luck and take it easy! Guest guest
Noni, Wow! Thats a great story! It sounds like you and your family are getting many, many blessings, your a lucky lady. I'm glad you found us too and I am looking forward to many more great stories. Congrats! Axelrod my first post... long but glad to have found you Hello A little about me... I had my lap RNY May 17th of 2001. I lost down to 154 then stabilized at 164-168 for about a year and a couple of months. I changed jobs to a desk job in Sept and although I still worked out... My weight started to slowly creep up. I was getting very frustrated. I was counting all my calories on Fitday.com and working out 4-6 days a week still gaining weight.. with the holidays I found myself up about 8 pounds well I was over 2 years out I though Here it comes... the dreaded bounce... and So I was gearing myself to deal with it.. My size 10 jeans now stayed in my drawer and the size 12s were all I could fit into.. In January I went to my gyno and he did a full exam, switched my birth control pill and sent my on my way. I was still going to the gym almost every day and gaining weight getting more frustrated and upset. That month after using the new birth control. I did not get my period < for the first time> I thought well maybe the stress of my wedding coming up 3 weeks later but I was concerned and did not want to start a new pack of bc pills if by any chance I was pregnant. So I took the test... it was positive.. I didn't want to jump to any conclusions it may not right ect.. and made the first available appointment. I went in the first thing they had me do was a leave a urine sample. Then a tech came and took me to the scale.. In the 7 weeks since I had been to there office I had gained 10 pounds... I burst into tears.. the lab tech not knowing how to handle this crazy girl says honey.... it ok to gain weight... your Pregnant... I was like WHAT?!? your the first medical person to tell me this.. I was hysterical.. When did this happen ect.. I have a wedding in 2 and a half weeks...the tech said I will take an extra sample of blood and we will run a test that will tell us exactly when you got pregnant. So off to the Nurse Practioner I went I was shocked and upset... I had been eating sushi and drinking wine and going it the steam room at the gym after every workout... things I would have never done if I had known I was pregnant. So I was very upset. the NP said well you are probably only 6 weeks along this is when you would start changing your eating ect.. then I got on the examination table and she says ' Oh... Oh I think you are much further along then we thought...' she put some goop on my tummy and uses the sonogram and you could hear a Really strong heart beat and she started counting... She said I think your are like 18-20weeks pregnant ... I started bawling.. I was beside myself.. I went from possibly having a baby in Oct to now she was telling me August... So the scheduled me for an ultrasound that afternoon.. I called crying... It was as though I had been hit by a truck.. I went back that afternoon and had my ultrasound.. the tech said the baby looked VERY healthy and the measurements were coming up 25weeks and 1 day.. suddenly I am not having a baby in August... but in June... June 16th my Dad's birthday.. She asked if I wanted to know the sex and I said well with all this trouble its got to be a girl... but I was wrong I am having a Boy. Since that crazy day I have had many many tests and an ultra sound 2 and Doctors appointments to Make sure this child is fine and the high risk doctor told me that he is very healthy and strong and she really believes that he will not have anymore problems then a child I would have known about the whole pregnancy. She was WONDERFUL and kept telling me how lucky we were to only be having a 3 month pregnancy. We chose not to tell many people until after the wedding because we are so happy in love and were so excited about this wedding we had put so much time and energy into that we didn't want a surprise pregnancy to overshadow that. So we told our families at a brunch after the wedding and they are excited... It is the first grandbaby on each side. My mother is just THRILLED to be a grandma and now that she has had weight loss surgery she will be able to do so much more with this little guy... I am still exercising but just not at a hard rate... I am hoping that my recovery after the baby is quick and hopefully I will be able to do a short course triathlon by the end of the summer.. I think the Buffalo TRi on June 6th is definitely out now... heehee... So that the Update on my life.. Guest guest
WOW - What an amazing story! You make the rest of us want to cry that has been sick and knowing we are pregnant the WHOLE 9 MONTHS! It's amazing and I'd think also makes you feel better as to why you were gaining a little weight when you were working out so hard and eating right! You don't have a lot of time to prepare but you have so many new and exciting things to look forward to - a new marriage and in a few months a new baby boy. I'm so happy that he is fine and healthy and you don't have to worry about all of that! Congrats! I'm glad you found this group. It's really great!
