Nicky has big sensory issues - and the tactile thing is a big one. But it is

not that he doesn't like touch - he doesn't like touch HE doesn't initiate.

And he likes firm touch - big squeezy hugs, he likes rough texture.

He is sooooo much better with the oral thing -- we can actually brush his

teeth w/out pinning him down. But he tries not to touch his lips to his food

and we often give him gum to chew (he did have quite a few pica issues - but

those are gone now too).

He is light sensitive - squints in the sunlight alot - will flip out if the

sun shines on him while he is in the car. Can't stand the light to hit the TV

screen (a " glare).

He tops out in the sensory issue catagory - his OT did a scoring on him and

Nicky is in the top 2% of 3 yrs old who would act so aversely to different

stimuli.

He has a sensory diet in place and is on a brushing program - which seems to

help.

Not sure if this helped you!

Sounds alot like Nicky!! But he hates wearing shoes - will take them off any

chance he gets - wanders through the pine needles and gravel barefoot. He

hates the hair cutting and nail clipping but will toerate it if I tell him

first - I have to show him the scissors and say " cut, cut, cut " then he will

hold out his hand or sit and let me trim his hair. (Thank God he has curly

hair - so you can't tell if I do a really lousy job!)
