Guest guest
Aimee, I take gastric bypass formulated vitamins (www.vita4life.net). Although I am not taking them temporarily due to the warnings on my IV iron to STOP all iron oral iron preparations while rec'ing infusions. Guest guest
What was your hemoglobin/hematocrit before the IV iron? ====================================================== Aimee, My hgb was 8.4 in December. After increasing my oral iron tabs from 325mg BID to TID my hgb dropped to 7.9 then 7.3 (corresponding crit was around 24% I think). Guest guest
actually, the injection site on my right hip, although given Z-track, is still bruised, rather than iron stained, from 3 weeks ago. It didn't hurt as it was going in, but the next day or two it was so sore it hurt to sit down (hip flopping and moving it I suppose). Oddly enough, its just as sore now as the day I got my first one, but all of my bruised areas are still hurting, even months after the initial injury. Who knows why. I have an appt with a new hematologist soon (I didn't care for the one I am presently seeing). Was your mg dose 100mg? It says on the package insert that it can be given once a day (100mg) either IV or IM. I was wondering why if it can be given DAILY that he only ordered it twice a WEEK. I need more- I can't tell a difference yet. :*( ======================================================== I never did IM Did you get an iron colored scar where they gave the shot? did it hurt? I did IV once a week for 8 weeks
