Yes, my son is on liquid Prozac. The amount your dr has recommended is very

tiny so I wonder if there will be any difference at all. My son was put on

Prozac at age 3 with no problem. It calms him down. As far as the stimming

go, it helped a little but he still does some of that.

Feel free to email me if you wish.

Hope this helps.

hi all...while I agree that prozac should not be used as a weight loss

crutch, i must admit that after being on prozac for about 7 years, for me it

is a godsend. this has nothing to do with losing weight. when I do not

take my prozac for a couple of days, the difference is quite noticable (my

husband can tell right away...lol) for me it is like having perpetual pms

without it. I am grouchy, snappy, and cry at the drop of a hat. Now, i'm

not saying that prozac is for everyone...I just wanted to say that it has

it's good points, and for some of us it is a necessity. (although i'm hoping

that inthe future I will be able to eliminate that necessity along with the

perscriptions I have to take for gurd, and asthma)

pro prozac (for now),

KC,

I have had the same conern. From what I have heard, the time-

released stuff won't be absorbed properly, but the regular prozac

should be OK. Do check with the surgeon though and let us know what

he says.

For all you Prozac lovers out there in la-la-land,

I heard on NPR (I tune in when I get up in the morning) that Prozac

will be going generic in October; that the FDA has licensed one

generic manufacturer already, and that the cost is expected to be

about 40% lower than the brand-name Prozac. --Steve

You may take it and it ought to be absorbed. If clinically there is

a decrease in efficacy, then your prescriber can raise your dose.

Where did you hear that sustained release medication is less well

absorbed than immediate release?

I do not believe this is valid information. The time release aka

sustained release or extended release medication is not dependent on

staying in the stomach or intestines any longer than the immediate

release medication. The extended release is due to the formulation

of the medication itself.

Generic Prozac aka Fluoxetine has been shipped to pharmacies in your

neighborhood.

And Lily is concocting more goodies for us...
