Guest guest
Hi , Yes, you are right - we were blessed to get such an early diagnosis. It was actually one of the female doctors in the NICU who convinced the other doctors to let go home. Part of it was probably because I was also spending every night there with him (well not with him, in a separate room as big as a closet with a couch in it), and I know I looked pitiful going in there at all hours of the night to check on him and feed him. They probably got SICK of seeing me! Anyway, they did realize and acknowledge (based on his diagnosis) that it would probably take weeks for him to reach a weight that they would normally consider acceptable for preemies. But since was NOT a preemie, and had a condition that was going to keep him small regardless, they took a risk (and chanced any future potential liability) by letting us all go home. I was so thankful I wanted to kiss their feet! Your husband sounds just like mine. I'm glad they finally listened and gave in to him (your husband)! I'm sure a big part of it is because if something goes wrong they don't want the parents to come back and blame them. You know how it is. I'm sorry you had to experience so much agony over the seperation of your precious Quetzie in her first few weeks of life...I probably would have tried to kidnap my son from the NICU if they had kept him much longer...lol :-) He was so small they probably wouldn't even have noticed he was gone! I'm so glad you posted . I LOVE Quetzie's name, and Zoe is very cute too. Tell us more about her when you can. I bet she is a " cutsie " too :-) Mom to 4 1/2 non-RSS, and 8 1/2 months RSS 10 lbs
