Guest guest
Joanne I feel terrible that little Josie is going through this, along with her family. Are they looking at the possibility of mito? Guest guest
Joanne, I am assuming here that if little Josie was in NICU with feeding issues that they probably were using nasal gastric or nasal jejunal tubes with her. Any chance of a small perforation (more likely in preemies)? Did Mom describe the blood (i.e.: frank red blood from something fresh, or coffee ground like old blood?). Just thinking out loud here. She was not premature, but has had all kind of problems. She is still in the NICU. First with breathing problems, then eating difficulties. They were finally getting ready to discharge her. Her mother was getting her ready to leave, and as she changed her diaper found that it was full of blood. Now they are trying to figure out what is causing that. My niece is very worried and little Josie is in a lot of pain. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Guest guest
Eosinophilia is one potential cause, a bleeding disorder is another. There are alos a multitude of GI related problems that can present like this. My girls have intermittent active GI bleeding from a mix of the first two. bionicgirl_bionic crookpj@...> wrote: Hello all, My niece's daughter was born a month ago. Guest guest
Sorry to everyone who responded to me about Josie that I haven't answered. I have been down with an SLE. It appears that she has Necrotizing EnteroColitis (NEC), although >she only shows some, not all of the symptoms--such as continued air in >the bowel wall, but not a distended abdomen. I don't know what will happen, but will try to keep you posted. Joanne > Re: Josie is in trouble Eosinophilia is one potential cause, a bleeding disorder is another.
