Guest guest
I have peripheral neuropathy but the doc who diagnosed my sister, son and I with melas says it could be from the high lactic acid I have or high glucose. My blood sugar is now under control (i have an insulin pump and try to keep bs to 115). I also take qgel and carnitor now. back in 1997 my lactic acid on a spinal tap was sky high and my blood sugar was 450. My mother was a diabetic and supposedly an epileptic so I should have been watching my sugar. My problem is my blood sugar goes up with physical exercise so basically we will never know if the problems I get in my toes and hands are from the melas and lactic acid or high glucose. I can tell you that whenever I walk for a long while like in a super Walmart that I cannot feel the toes on my left foot. It was the top of my left foot always feeling like a shoe was on it too tight that led me to get tested for MELAS in the first place. After I have rested for a while the feeling returns. Janet Sample Re: : MS Hi , THere are a number of individuals that were originally diagnosed with MS and later diagnosed with mito. Retrospectively, I think that Dr. Cohen, SHoffner ,etc have told many of those individuals that the " diagnostic " MRI was incorrectly read and the " plaques " were actually lesions typically seen in patients with mito. If you have such an MRI, I;d consider having Dr. Cohen or Dr. Shoffer over read it, ie do an formal interpertation of an outside exam. Send the films with a clinical history and other diagnostic info. MitomomX3@... wrote: has anyone been diagnosed with MS and mito?
