Guest guest
Dang!!! I sure do wish I had known this before Hannah was born. If I had maybe I would not have had all the drama with the hospital, with the nurses jumping to conclusions about the meds I was on and then the stupid social worker calling CPS and saying my kid tested positive for every drug on the planet! Turns out the chic read the report wrong, saying things were positive when the report was saying it was negative. Maybe if I had someone there being my eyes and ears all this crap would have been avoided. Could a Doula have helped in this situation ? If thats the case when hubby and I try for our second child I will definitely keep this in mind. Today hubby and I are going to see a lawyer about all this because though I have been totally cleared I will have a " report " on record with CPS for the next 4 years. Yesterday I got a " card " from the head nurse of the OB department saying once again how sorry she was about all the crap that happened to Hannah and I, and then she said " Have your next trip to Target on us. " , and enclosed a $50 gift card. Personally I am completely insulted by this gesture!!! I get the feeling that she is just trying to CYA (if you know what I mean). Who knows, maybe she is really being genuine, but I'm not buying it. Besides, I have a record now for the next 4 years due to no fault of my own and I'm just supposed to forgive that with a shopping trip to Target? I don't think so! It should be interesting to see what the atty. has to say about all this tonight, I just pray that Hannah cooperates! LOL!!! Just another wonderful thing to record in the baby book eh? Axelrod Re: > On another note, I noticed you're a > doula? On another board I belong too one of the girls there asked if I > had been offered one through special delivery services but I don't > think the Military has that That's an awesome thing for that girl to bring up..=) Special Delivery isn't offered through the military...it's offered TO military wives. It's a group of doulas who have gathered together to offer their services free of charge to military wives....it's offered by the doulas, not by the military...and it's free. Here is where you can find out more about it.. http://www.operationspecialdelivery.com/ >anyways but I could be wrong however in > researching on Doulas and explaining to Jerry what a Doula is and what > they do he feels that he would be left out since she would be the one > doing everything. Am I right on this or totally off? Thanks, The doula is not the one doing everything...not at all. In fact we are there as much for the dad as we are for the mom...the doulas level of involvement depends totally on what the mom and dad want/need. We're there to help with the birth in whatever way we can...not to take it over. Maybe you (and he) should talk to some people who have used doulas at their births? I've hired two doulas for each of the times I've given birth...but me, being who I am, I'm a bit biased - so it would probably be good for you to hear from someone unbiased. =) Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you...
