My father had a pulmonary embolism.. and he was put on the Coumidin (wafarin) for a year.. and then went on Lethicin.... Problem is... the pulmonary embolism returned.... another week of IV Heperin... and now he is on the Coumidin for life. He gets his blood checked every 3 months now.. Turns out.. my father is Factor V lieden with the Prothrobin mutatation...... which is why in our family we affectionately call him " a clotter " My 5 brothers and sisters ALL inherited the same thing... and are " clotters " I am adopted.. so I didn't get it. Have you been tested for Factor V ??? That would be I think a first step... because then your specialists can proceed from there. Right now... my sisters are on daily asperin therapy.. and can no longer take hormonal BC... however.. a straight progesterone BC they can take My brothers are also on the daily asperin therapy as well... A fun note.... Did you know the main ingredient in Rat Poisen is " wafarin " ??? Many women have had successful pg's while on blood thinners... I think the key is finding just the right Dr you can trust .. and that is supportive of your reproductive wishes. Guest guest
Hi Sasha, I haven't had a blood clot but I do have 2 blood disorders that cause me to have a chance at blood clots. APLA and Hyperhomocystein Anemia. I was taking Lovenox injections and recently started Heparin injections since I am getting ready to have this baby soon. You may want to ask your doctor if you will need the blood thinner injections too. Just a thought.... Chrystal Wife to Jace - together 6 Years! Happy Mommy to - 4 Years Old! Jonas Due July 28, 2004!
