Guest guest
tte, I think it depends on how far along your daughter is. I am new to the group, so I don't know. I can tell you my experience though. At 14 weeks with my first son, I felt him moving a little bit and it intensified over the next couple of weeks. At 17 weeks, I noticed I hadn't felt him move for a couple of days and contacted the doctor. They had me come in right away and checked the baby's heart rate. Fine. They said it was too early for me to feel much movement and since I was 250lbs, it would be more muffled because of my weight. Well, I KNEW they were wrong since the feeling wasn't muffled the 3 weeks prior to then. To make a long story short, I had to switch OB's and found a new doctor who took me seriously. After being sent for an emergency detailed ultrasound, it was discovered that although, yes, he had a great heartbeat, I had absolutely no amniotic fluid because he had a penial obstruction and could not re-urinate the amniotic fluid out!! His kidneys failed and my doctors induced my labor at 23.5 weeks and iel was born after 40 hours of labor. He weighed 1lb 1.2oz and lived for 58 minutes. I URGE your daughter to find anyone who will listen to her since I later learned that had my first doctor reacted immediately, his kidneys wouldn't have failed and he would be here with us today. It was the 2 weeks it took to get into a new doctor, all of which he was not able to go to the bathroom, that in the end took my baby's kidneys. I don't want to scare you, but I was only 21 years old and pg with my first child after trying for 3.5 years. He was our miracle baby and after losing him, I would never wish such pain on anyone. Like I said, RUN don't walk to the nearest doctor who will listen to find out what is going on with your grandchild!! a
Guest guest
There are a few things that could cause decreased fetal movement. I spoke with my doctor about this a couple of days ago, telling him that I'll look at the clock realizing that a few hours have passed without movement (and I'm carrying twins). One of our observations was that I might get really busy with work and may not notice that the babies are busy in there. Another thing he told me is that babies in utero will go through growth spurts where they tend to sleep more at certain times. The size of the babies can also be a factor. He told me not to be surprised if the twin's movement slows down a lot sooner than a singleton would. They're a lot more crowded in there and won't have much wiggle room after a while. Above all he told me that if I'm ever feeling something is just not right or my mind can't be put to ease, just hop in to see him and he'll check things out. Taking a few sips of cold juice and lying on your left side for a while will sometimes get the little one moving. HTH Toi
Guest guest
Toi, Thanks for the reply. I am so concerned because I guess I misunderstood and said she didn't feel movement for 4-5 hours, THAT WAS INCORRECT...IT WAS FOR 1 1/2 DAYS SO I AM REALLY FREAKING OUT. SHE TOLD ME they did check the heartbeat and also did a fetal monitor for about 4 hours and that everything seems o.k. She said that the baby was moving when they did the fetal monitoring and that last night he started moving again as well as this morning. I am still truly concerned what happened to him during that time and is there a chance something could be wrong with him when he is born. IF ANYONE HAS A MEDICAL DEGREE, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED IN THAT TIME, AND WHAT ARE THE CHANCES THAT SOMETHING COULD BE WRONG. Please reply ASAP. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi a, Thanks for your reply. I am sorry that happened to you. I truly don't know what to make of this and am trying to be calm. Any medical people out there can contribute their ideas was to what went on. Any chance of him having problems when he is born. Thanks Re: decreased fetal movement tte, I think it depends on how far along your daughter is. I am new to the group, so I don't know. I can tell you my experience though.
