Guest guest
Steve I have not had any OTCs paid for by MDA, nor have I heard that they do in this area, but I may be wrong on that. The MDA neuro does write my prescription for Carnitor, so my health insurance pays for this, over my co-pay, which is a large amount. I am sure there are many out there who aren't taking the dosage of needed OTCs because of cost. laurie > Does anyone have any experience with whether or not the MDA will at least > consider paying for OTCs, specifically CoQ10 and acetyl-L-carnitine? > > I know part of the answer, that it depends on the clinic and/or regional > office. Guest guest
I've never heard of MDA paying for medications, either OTC or prescription. They certainly don't in my case, I have private insurance that pays for the prescription medications. There are several on this list that got insurance coverage for OTC medications, although some of the reason people use Carnitor is to get it paid for by insurance (instead of using health food store carnitine). CoQ10 from Tishcon is considered an " orphan drug " under FDA regulations, so there is some hope if that's the kind you are taking, you could ask for and get coverage. Again, others in this group have done this I believe. Take care, RH > > Does anyone have any experience with whether or not the MDA will at least > consider paying for OTCs, specifically CoQ10 and acetyl-L-carnitine? > > I know part of the answer, that it depends on the clinic and/or regional > office.
