Hi Cythia,

Or doc says 2.5, I am going to go with the 3-4 range. Relapse

at 3 and casting etc. would not be pleasant.

That is interesting that he said that... We didn't start seeing him until my

daughter was 2 1/2. The main reason we switched doctors was because the

other doctor was making noises about releasing her from the shoes, but I had

learned from this board that children should wear the shoes longer than 2

years...

Even though my daughter has a very mild clubfoot and didn't need a tenotomy,

at the 3 year check with Dr. H, I could tell he thought she was ready to

stop using the shoes, but he decided to keep her in them longer. About 3

months later she was having a horrible time sleeping. I'm still not sure if

it was the shoes or just a difficult time for her developmentally. Since she

has been out of the shoes, we've had periods where she wakes during the

night. We have found that more exercise has helped tremendously.... She has

a hard time with balance, so she tends to be sedentary...

Best, Joanne W. mom to Zoe, 3-25-01, right clubfoot

On Friday, Dr. Herzenberg said Christian's foot looked great. He has 20+

degrees of dorsiflexion and he wants us back in 4 months. He also said

that the earliest possible release from the DBB is 2 years old. Of course

he indicated that it would greatly depend on the severity of the foot as

well as other factors. I was under the impression that they weren't

released until 3 or 4 years old.
