Hello there,

our sohn Lars is now his third month in his braces and doing well.

But in a last few weeks I observed something what really concerns

me. His non clubfoot leg seems to be 1 cm shorter that his clubfoot

leg. He grew really fast after his cast came down and he is now

longer that other babys in his age (4.5 month). I could not see this

leg difference in the beginnig (after his casts time), first now. It

seems also that his left hip is higher (from non clubfoot leg). I am

really concerned about this. We have our doc visit first next week

and I don't know with whom I can talk about. My husband says that he

will grow out this condition but I am making myself crazy :-((( Help

with any advice.

Love Katharine with Lars (09.21.2004 right cf)

I'd mention it - from what my ortho said, and all of the checking Dr. P did when

we were out there, hip displacement is sometimes related or appears with club

feet. It can also appear alone so it's not always hand in hand but they surely

have checked for it every time we see someone new...

I agree with Chris.

I've heard hip dysplaysia can be related, or an independent thing.

I thought Shane might have a problem with his hip or upper thigh a

year ago and mentioned it to our ped ortho when we went and he had

him x-rayed to check it out. Everything was fine, but it is worth

looking into if you are concerned, there's no harm in questioning it

and getting a doctors take.
