Wow - that's the best labor story I've ever heard! You should be so

happy that all went so quickly for you. Congrats on your little

angel - I saw her picture on the website! She's beautiful. I hope

you get plenty of rest and take care of yourself during these early

months.

We're so happy for you!

Smiles,

EDD 10.04.03

> Here's Cadi! Cadence arrived at 8:28pm on April 19, 2004.

She weighed in at 6lbs 9oz and is 19.25 inches long. My labor was

AMAZING! Long story, but briefly, I woke up with regular

contractions at 5am on Monday morning. Went to the hospital at

11:30am when they were 2-3 mins apart. (Did NOT want to get sent

home again!) They admitted me when I dilated from 3 to 4+ in an

hour. They had trouble monitoring me, so they wanted to apply the

internal monitors. I got my epidural and they broke my water to put

the monitors on. Baby was looking great but there was ALOT of

meconium in the fluid, so they did a uterine infusion to help clean

it out. The epidural was my best friend but it stalled my dilation.

I stayed at 5cm for 3 hrs, then they started a low dose of pitocin.

It WORKED! I felt pressure within an hour, and when they checked me,

I was at 7cm. About 1 hr later, I said I could feel pressure and

movement. The Dr on call asked what kind of " movement " ? I

said " Well, I can feel the baby coming out. " He chuckled and

said, " Oh, you'll have an hour or two of pushing to get to that

point, but feeling pressure is a good sign, it means you'll be able

to push effectively. " The nurse said " What the heck, let's check and

see where she is " . She checked me and SLAMMED my legs back together,

and yelled, " She's CROWNING!!!! Get the Dr! " The Dr ran back in and

called the team of nurses and peds people. They were literally

holding my legs together waiting for my own OB to get there. As my

OB walked in a few minutes later, she said " Wow, everyone's ready to

go? " and she turned to get her gown and gloves on. Right then I felt

more movement. I said " Uhhh...I feel movement there! " and pointed

down. The Dr on call opened my legs (the epidural had me too numb to

move them myself) and said " The head is OUT! We're doing this on the

bed! " My OB kinda leaned over me to help suction Cadi's nose and

mouth. Cadi screamed! The Dr said " OK, just give us one little push

for her shoulders " I didn't push at all. I took a deep breath so I

could get ready to push and they said " Here she is! What was that?

HALF a push??? " Her sord was too short to put her on my tummy and

they needed to hurry up to get her lungs suctioned so they took her

right over to the " work table " before I even got to see her. Bo was

taking digital pics and running back over to show me. We were all

sobbing and laughing. Her apgar's were 9 and 9. No problems, no

additional monitoring, nothing. I had no tearing and no episiotomy,

so no stitches or anything. She roomed in with me that night, and we

came home last night when she was 24 hrs old! She's an AWESOME baby,

hardly ever cries, and I can't believe she's OURS!

What an amazing story!! Cadence is absolutely GORGEOUS!!

She is so pretty. I wish I could say any of my labors were

like yours, but I can't:( Hopefully, after WLS I can

though. Hee,hee. Enjoy being a mommy! It truly is the

best job in the whole world:)
