Guest guest
Yes, that is the test that we are having done. A blood draw every 15 min for the first hour and then every thirty min. for the second hour. A total of 6 draws with no eating 6 hours prior to the test. Let me know how thing go once you get started. Guest guest
hi maloy! when you get their they will put the iv in after the first med. tori will get sleepy after awhile, christopher basically slept through the whole thing on my husbands lap. they draw blood and monitor blood pressure. i would also ask them to check her blood sugar. they are taking blood anyway so they can do it then. ihad them do it each time they drawed the blood. his blood sugar ended up going down to 40 but he was fine. they had a lunch waiting for him as soon as the test was done. the way they explained the test was the drugs are ment to drop his b/p and blood sugar so that it forces the body to make growth hormone. this way they can see how well they make their own gh. he did very well during the test. tori will do well to. please let me know, if you want to email me you can at jlcals2003@... jodie (nicholas-5 nonrss, christopher-3 rss 22lbs 33 " , johnathon-6m nonrss) > Yes, that is the test that we are having done. Guest guest
You shouldn't be looking for any level with regards to starting GH for an RSS child. The studies have found that there is this very long and technical language but it has to do with the routing of the IGF-1 " thingies " - and what these studies are saying is that RSS kids need MORE growth hormone than the average child and MORE calories than the average child. THey now call our kids " growth hormone insufficent " not " deficient. " So most endocrinologists with experience in RSS and short SGA kids will not even recommend a growth hormone stim test, because the recommendation is for GH regardless. I believe that in a stim test, however, anything lower than 11 is considered low normal or deficient. My own daughter scored a whopping 21!!!! VERY high, and yet didn't grow until growth hormone. > We are going in next week to check the gH level. The two hour blood > draw.
