Guest guest
hi all, just found out i will have another muscle biopsy in about a month. first one, seven years ago, showed changes consistent with mito, but neither i nor neuro i was seeing at the time understood the results. this time they (Wash U in St. Louis) are also looking for inclusion bodies. they also say they do a biochemistry profile which they call " oxidative (Mitochondrial) enzymes " and do it on a fresh specimen. I assume it is for activity of complexes I through V. but what methods they use i don't know. I haven't even confirmed that they will order this test yet. I know it might be better to have this done at Cleveland, Atlanta, etc., but this is what the HMO wants and i feel it is better than waiting and wondering. feels like progress toward a dignosis to me. thought you all might like to know. kent
