Guest guest
Congrats! The journey is just beginning. We started Gh a little over 2 years ago, and as difficult as it has been at times, Storm is so much healthier. I hope it will be great for you also! Blessings, Carmen, Storm's mom (8y8m, 52 pounds, 48 inches, gh, prevacid, reglan, flovent, albuterol)

Guest guest
, I understand how you feel. It IS scary and exciting at the same time. Just know, however, that you will not see a growth of inches in a month. It is more of a slow, steady growth that will be more obvious at three month intervals. And also remember that the dose may need to be adjusted, so you may not see a great spurt at first. Hang in there. This is a journey that will last for years, so you have plenty of time. (Our journey, however, is winding down, so I DO feel a bit of panic at times.) One little hint to help make feel more comfortable and part of the process.... Let wipe the area with the alcohol swab and let him wave his hand over it to dry the area, too. (You should not blow on it because that adds germs.) Have him hold a special stuffed animal while he gets the shot. After you give the shot, let him give a shot to the animal. He can talk to it, explain what he is doing and be a participant in the activity. This method helped Max a lot. And we learned how Max was feeling and how he interpreted the reasons for getting the shots just by listening to him talk to whichever animal he chose each night. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Jodi Z.

Guest guest
-- Hi Jodi, I am thankful that I have all of you!! I thought there for a while all alone I was not getting any responses during roll call msg and things I feel much better with all the support from this group, I know at times is not as severe as some of the other kids on here but in turn he has so many other problems.. OCD, ODD sensory and looking at another surgery.I was so glad to hear from everyone in response to the GH I was feeling so lost!!You have lifted my spirits and gave me a great idea on how to deal with this ,I was wondering though I thought you could give him the injection while he is asleep to? I am definitley going to talk with him about this process, I don't just want to poke him and he not understand why, we are talking to a child life specialist when we go on Tuesday and that makes me feel a little better!I will let him pick out a stuffed animal and take it with us!!!! I am glad to hear Max is doing better and I know alot of people down here with G-tubes and have told them of the great idea you came up with about the plastic seal wrap!!!!I just want to say thank you and I will let you know how it goes, I am glad for the info about the growth also that way I won't get discouraged!! Hugs to you , 's mommy!! - In RSS-Support , " Jodi Zwain " wrote: > , > > I understand how you feel. It IS scary and exciting at the same > time. Guest guest
Jodi, It's funny, but before I read your post we tried letting Abby hold one of her beloved animals and it helped a lot! She has a set of her favorites that she keeps on her bed and each day she holds a different one. I guess sometimes we instinctively find the right things to do. We're also still doing the thighs and I appreciate your posts about Max. Abby seems to want us to keep to the thighs where she can keep an eye on things. As long as it's not a problem, that's probably how we'll continue. We've tried recommending other places and she's adamantly against it. Sherri D.
