I too had trouble sleeping until just the last few weeks. Nothing worked for

me exept the couch. I did try that a couple times and i don't know if it was

the couch or I was just exhausted but i fell asleep. I also had many weird

dreams that woke me durintg the night and then I would be wide awake again. I ma

glad you get to see your baby alot now, that is ssooo cool and Congratulations

on it being a baby girl, they have ssooo many cute clothes out there right

now, lol, I've been looking for boy stuff but it just is NOT the same for

shopping, not that I did not find alot of goodies for him but girls are so much

easier, too easier, no wonder they turn into clothes queens when they are teens,

lol...

I have had a lot of trouble sleeping during this pregnancy also. Not only is

there the waking up to go to the bathroom a few times a night...but just not

being able to be comfortable on one side or then the other!

I take tylenol pm almost nightly. Something between the tylenol and benadryl

puts me over the edge and I am able to sleep soundly for a few hours and then

fall back to sleep semi-easily after my 40 trips to the bathroom!

I went to the store and looked at all the boxes: Tylenol PM,

Benadryl, Simply Sleep, Unisom. These were some of the suggestions

I read about at the babycenter.com website where others had asked

the same question as me.

Tylenol is safe. Benadryl is safe. Tylenol PM just adds the same

ingredient as the Bendadryl has in it. Tylenol now makes something

called Simply Sleep and it doesn't have the pain med in it - just

the same ingredient as Benadryl so I bought a box of that. The

EQUATE brand at Walwart is cheaper than Tylenol PM and has the exact

same ingredients. Unisom had something else that I didn't recognize

in the other drugs so I didn't think it would be safe. I'm calling

the OB's office just to make sure tomorrow but I don't see how

1+1 = 2 (safe to take Tylenol and Benedryl) though I haven't taken

that at the same time - and the same ingredients not be okay? We'll

see. Until then ...... thanks for the advice.

Smiles to all,

If I can make a suggestion....if you are not in any pain and don't need the

tylenol you should just use the benedryl....its the same sleepy ingredient

without the tylenol and if you don't need the tylenol at that time then why take

extra drugs.

But you should never take Benedryl in the later part of your pregnancy like 32

weeks on.....it can cause birth defects at that point....if I can find the web

site I will pass it along. I have also heard that unisom was recommended but

since benedryl was ok to take that is what I have been taking too.

I have the same issues with sleeping and the most incredible leg cramps I have

ever experienced!!!!! So I am loving Benedryl induced sleep while I can.

Okay -- this is the latest from my parentalogy group. I can take

UNISOM, BENEDRYL, and TYLENOL PM. I really need the Tylenol due to

knots in the muscles in my back. The nurse asked me how far along I

was and I am 18 weeks going on 19 weeks on Monday. She said she

knew it was safe to take the Unisom because they recommend taking 1

Unisom + 25 mg of B6 for nausea and then a B6 in the morning. - wish

I had known this when I was so sick but I was between doctors. She

talked to one of my doctors and she said the three I've listed up

top were okay for me to take.

I " LL ALSO SAY THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER TAKE ANYTHING UNTIL YOU GET THE

OKAY FROM YOUR DOCTOR as I've now read someone's doctor said it

wasn't safe for her to take the Tylenol PM. Everyone has their own

medical opinion.

I also told her that the Benedryl made me zombie out for the whole

next day and she said they heard that alot.

Hope this helps some other sleepless pregnant women on this board!

Smiles and sweet dreams I HOPE!,
