Guest guest
I am not sure which way I go in this discussion of whether off-topic discussions are helpful on this list or not. Last year I definitely did not like them--I only wanted to hear about GFCF issues. This year I am more used to them. The only thing I will say is . . . (my recommendation for the listowners) . . . pls don't use any restrictions against off-topic discussions selectively. For example, the current topic that caused a few people to say it was too far off-topic for the list was one person's testimonial of why they don't completely keep to a GFCF diet. I would not want to see us use admonitions to stay " on topic " to kill honest debate by parents who have found GFCF does not work for them (or at least they think it doesn't). If we are going to allow discussions of ABA and IEP's and discipline problems and sleep problems and everything else that relates to living with an ASD kid, then pls let's allow honest discussion of why some parents don't do GFCF (or do it fully)--those folk will probably not be on the list long-term anyway! Cheers, M.
