Hi Cyndi!

Congrats on your little one!

My first Noah was born at 31 weeks.. my water just broke.. no reason.

Born via emergency C -Section.

He was PRE -WLS.

I am classified as High Risk because of his early birth... but not because of

my surgery.

We still have NO reason as to why? ... but this current pg entitles me to

some extra care with a Peri ( Maternal/Fetal dr)

Noah has some delays.. but is slowly catching up.

If you haven't already.. come join us at PREEMIE-L on Yahoo groups.

LOTS of parents with micro preemies and bigger preemies.

It is nice to know what to expect and to have lots of people who have been

there and done that.. :)

Wishing your daughter a safe journey thru the NICU!!!!

Hang in there mommy... that coming home day you will remember for the REST of

your life!!!

Hi everyone,

On my 2 year anniversary of my surgery, I found out I was pregnant

with my first child. I had an un-eventful pregnancy, up until 27

weeks. At 27 weeks, I was in my doc's office for a regular

appointment when my water broke. I was taken to the hospital and

told I would be there until I delivered. I delivered at exactly 28

weeks by c-section - a little girl, 2 lbs 9 ozs. She is still in

NICU but doing well.

My question is this.... My doc and the specialists that I have seen,

have said that this is just one of those things and there is no way

to tell why it happened and not to be too concerned - however, I will

be high risk for all future pregnancies. Has anyone heard of this

having anything do do with the surgery? I'm guessing not, but it is

hard to accept that there is " no medical reason " for something to

happen.

Thanks,

Cyndi

being a L&D RN, most times when water breaks it is for no known

reason. Sometimes it's after having intercourse, and they think that

might be a reason, although many women have intercourse WITHOUT their

water breaking etc.

Most OB's say there is no known cause though.

Best wishes!

And I totally do not think it's GBP related at all!

Congrats on your little one, and hope that she is home soon.

If you look in the files section on this website, there are two

articles that talk about risks, etc...As far as I could see, there

is no higher risk of either prematurity or csection delivery

associated with WLS.

All the best to you,

I am glad your baby is doing well. I think it is NOT related to your surgery.

I was prego with twins before surgery and my water broke at 32 weeks and i

ahd to be induced also. It is just something that happens and once something

like happens it is best to always be considered high risk to play it safe. I had

a full term daughter 9#4 at 41 weeks the next time around and am presently 30

weeks and he weighs 4# even so far, so i think these things are just bad luck.

Good luck to you and your sweet daughter.
