Guest guest
~ When I took the HPT and found out I was pregnant, I called my pcp for a blood test. I was informed that as long as I have taken a HPT and had it come out positive, my pcp would not see me or send me to a lab for bloodwork, I had to go to an OB/GYN. I thought this was odd, I mean, what if it was a false positive of some kind? SO, got a referral to the OB/GYN, called them, expected to hear " When can you come in for bloodwork? " and instead was asked when my LMP was and told my appointment would be in about 6 weeks. I was like WHAT?! She said they do not see patients typically until at least 8 weeks into the pregnancy unless there was a problem. I am a first time mom to be, so I had no idea, but felt REALLY disappointed at this. I asked her about being " sure " I was pregnant and she said all they would give me in the office was a " pee on the stick type test " as well, because insurance companies don't like to pay for blood tests to diagnose pregnancy because the pee sticks are 99% accurate. She said if I REALLY wanted a blood test to confirm, that I should go to the ER, but not to expect my insurance to pay for it. I didn't do this. I went and bought different packs of HPT, one first response, one ept, and a double pack of the digital HPT. Took one every morning for the 4 days and they all came out positive. That was enough proof for me. I hope all works out for you! C. So I tell the nurse that I had taken two HPTs last Friday and last night and both were positive and I wasn't sure what to do next. Her response, " Didn't believe the first one, huh? " Then she scheduled my first appointment with my OB/GYN for 6/14. I was certain they were going to send me to a lab. Has anyone else's doctor just believed the test and scheduled an appointment? She didn't ask me when my last period was or anything. I'm sorry if I am sounding like a doofus, but I've never been pregnant before. This " finding out " process is nothing like I thought it would be. I imagined sitting my husband down with a wrapped box over a candle-lit dinner and when he opened the box, he'd see a bib that says " I love my Daddy " . Instead, my husband and I don't know whether to get excited or keep " trying " . As long as I am pregnant and everyone's healthy, I guess I shouldn't sweat the small stuff, huh?
