Bless you for asking, Shayna. Kinda up and down. Yesterday was bad again and

I was discouraged and thinking that the antibiotics weren't going to do what

needs to be done. Today I see the surgeon again---and feel better this

morning. So is THAT cause and effect??? Sometimes I think just having an

eminent appointment has the power to heal........pretty good medical trick,

don't you think?

Barbara, I suppose " up and down " is better than all down but it's

more fun when it's all up, isn't it?! Anyway, I hope your

appointment with the surgeon went well today and that the ups

overtake the downs soon.

p.s. I once took a course on the history of the mind-body

relationship in medicine (at a major university believe it or not).

We read a book on the placebo effect, which as you know is so widely

accepted as an established mind-body phenomenon that medical studies

have to control for it in order to be considered valid. Anyway, one

thing in the book that surprised me was evidence that the single

strongest placebo might be the doctor-patient relationship itself.

Go figure.
