Guest guest
I was told that you could take Trazadone, but as soon as you find out you are pregnant then quit. I was told that it was in high risk catagory and the less of it you could take the better. Does it make you real tired? Drained feeling? Are you taking it for depression, nerves, sleep? Best wishes! Guest guest
Wow thanks for the replies on the trazadone. I'm not pregnant yet, although last night we tried and I am ovulating Fingers Crossed... But I take the trazadone for both sleep and depression. I was on prozac for migraines caused by my overworrying, etc...that worked and i no longer had migraines but hten i developed a sleep problem and he put me on trazadone however i didnt want to be on both at the same time so i went to just the trazadone and now i can sleep and dont have migraines. But i was concerned about being on it during the first part of pregnancy before you even find out. Thanks everyone Christie
Guest guest
My 7 yr old was put on it for a short period when dealing with some behavior issues and I really disliked it. I know it's a powerful drug. So I would be VERY cautious before taking it without knowing all the facts on it. http://www.accessmednet.com/prescription-drug-information/trazodone.html This is what I've found but it says ABSOLUTELY AVOID THIS DRUG DURING the first trimester of pregnancy. I think thats a good enough indicator for me that I wouldn't touch the stuff. I've read that Zoloft is SO much better. It also says this Trazodone and Pregnancy Animal studies of trazodone use during pregnancy indicated increased rates of fetal death and birth defects. This medication has not been studied for safety during pregnancy in humans, and individuals are advised to completely avoid it during the first trimester. Speak to your doctor if you are planning to become pregnant, or intend to breastfeed during treatment. For them saying it hasn't been tested for safety during pregnancy in humans I wouldn't personally touch the stuff through my WHOLE pregnancy or while breast feeding. There are other alternatives out there. You really might want to ask your doctor why he/she would perscribe such a drug to you knowing you are pregnant. Hope this info might help some... Sydney 32 weeks today Trazadone Has anyone on this list taken Trazadone while trying to get pregnant or while pregnant? I'm on it now and also trying to concieve I wondered if i Needed to stop taking it. Thank you Christie
Guest guest
trazadone is a preg risk category C drug... risks to the baby may outweigh the benefits to the mom and adverse effects have been found in animal babies- hasn't been studied on humans; so therefore in my opinion, it isn't an option for pregnancy. Tell the Dr who prescribed it that you are on it and ask if there is a safe alternative to it for the time being. Sheila, L&D RN
