Guest guest
Randall, I have had tongue weakness, swallowing problems and difficulty holding my head up. I used a foam neck collar to keep my head up. I ate watermelon as it could easily be crushed between my tongue and the roof of my mouth. Chewing was difficult too. Swallowing was slow and often accompanied with choking so small bites were the rule. This passed in a few months. For me it was part of a mito crash. Just remember any muscle can be affected; all smooth muchle, the cardiac muscle, and any skeletal muscles. It is the nature of the disease. a (MELAS)
