Guest guest
Hey Bug, I have stayed at the Mc House in NYC in the past on my own and again with . The last time I called for a reservation, they said they had changed their policy and only adults with children were allowed to stay. It may be different in each location. I would call. It helps to have a hospital social worker call the request in. Hope things are going well.
Guest guest
The only time adults are allowed to stay at the RMH is when they are there with a child who is receiving care at local hospitals. Cindy
Guest guest
We were told if you are with a ped or sometimes when they are very very empty, but it isn't something you can schedule. That is what we were told, but of course that was back in '97. venomvw wrote: >Can someone tell me if adult patients are allowed to stay there ? > >Thanks, >bug > > > > > > >Medical advice, information, opinions, data and statements contained herein are not necessarily those of the list moderators. Guest guest
" venomvw " pamcroy@...> > Can someone tell me if adult patients are allowed to > stay there ? Each " House " sets it's own specific policies. Soem we stay at only service families with children up to 19, others to 21 and others allow adulsts if they have a " congenitla disease process. I'd call the specific house and ask their policy. Guest guest
Hi Bug, Most RMH go up to age 18 or 21, but the one in Cleveland actually goes up to age 30 if you have a childhood disease. I first got sick at age 14 (I guess that's considered childhood) and my mom and I stayed there when I was 25 for the first time. Malisa Mc House Can someone tell me if adult patients are allowed to stay there ? Guest guest
Bug, Carie Olsen is the woman you want to talk to, we just stayed there in June, I just talked to her and asked her for you. She said they do make exceptions for Dr. Shoffners patients, as long as they have a couple of rooms open and they are not turning any kids away. She said for you to give her a call and if she is not there leave a message, she will call you back, but talk to her only, she will fill out the paperwork and have it ready, okay? By the way, the phone number is 1-. Good luck, they were really nice at the Mc house. Guest guest
You have given me so much info and help in the chats, this is at least something I could do for you, by the way, Carie is in charge over this one, so if she approves it the others can't argue, plus it's only $10 to stay there. Word of advice though, we flew Angelflight, so we didn't have our car, there are NO stores within walking distance, the closest one is a couple of miles, so if you are not going to have transportation there thats something to consider. They do have refrigerators, microwaves, everything like that, but while we were there ( Sun-Fri) there was only 2 meals provided. There are places that deliver local though. Hope that helps. There is transport to Shoffner from there and to the hospitals, they can tell you how to do that. Good luck, Shoffner was awesome, he looks like a hippi with a haircut, you'll understand. When is your appt? We are scheduled on Nov. 9 for a followup for Leighann. Lois > [Original Message] > > To: > > Date: 9/13/2005 8:35:54 PM > Subject: Re: Mc House > > Lois that was so kind of you ! Guest guest
I was offered to stay there when I arranged my visit with Shoffner. Perhaps the Atlanta house has a different rule? Horizon Molecular Medicine also gave me information on Angel Flights. Take care, RH > The only time adults are allowed to stay at the RMH is when they are there with a child who is receiving care at local hospitals. > > Cindy > >
Guest guest
FYI, we stayed at the Wyndham Hotel I think, maybe $70/night at the time (a few years ago), and they said that there are so many hospitals nearby (4 at least) that they regularly have patients staying there to recuperate and cater to their needs (like to have food delivered). I went to Northside, although I think I was originally scheduled at St. ph's. My " office " appointment was at ish Rite, so my kids had a field day in the child-friendly waiting room. Guest guest
Lois, I appreciate all the advice. I'm doing tube feeding so I'll have to figure out how to get the stuff there. I might be able to mail it ahead. The appt. is Oct 18 and the 19th is my biopsy. I've met Dr. Shoffner twice before, so I get the hippi reference...lol ! bug
