Jodi....I know this isn't of much help to you....but I HATED all that weighing

and measuring and the upset when she only gained an ounce ...or notning at

all....or even lost! We don't moniter her growth and weight anymore....Imogen

is thin...but she eats ok.. and she is happy and healthy and full of energy and

that's what matters to us.

Try not to worry so much about ......he is not yet 2 and almost weighs as

much as Imogen who is 6!!! I'm sure he will soon be overtaking her in height

too!

Take Care

Hi everyone,

was weighed again yesterday and he only gained 2 ounces this

week. I don't get it. We are running his feeds according to Dr. H's

advice, but he isn't doing as well now as he was in the beginning.

Plus, he is gagging and throwing up a little more since we upped his

feeds. So, since he didn't have a good gain, we backed him down 2

cc's during the day, like he was before. He was gaining well, but

last week and this week haven't been great, although last week was 4

ounce gain. I'll take that. But, I worry when it is only tow

ounces. Am I overreacting? I just hate that we have him up to his

goal rate and he gags more often and he STILL doesn't gain well. I

mean, I know he is full or he wouldn't gag so much. Plus, his

residules are higher when we run him at 36 cc during the day. So, we

backed to 34 cc to give him a little " breathing room " . When we first

started this, he was gaining 7 ounces each week. Now, not so good.

I guess I'll wait and see what his gain is next week. But, I am a

little worried. Also, the nurse tried to measure yesterday.

I don't know how accurate it is, but she came up with 27 1/4 inches.

So, where would he be with that height and a weight of 13 lbs. 13

oz.? At his 18 month check up he was 25 1/2 inches. I sort of doubt

he would have grown that much. I'll just have to take him to his

peds. office for a weight/height check.

Concerned, as usual,

Jodi R.

Hi Jodi R.,

Yes, I do think you are overreacting slightly. Two ounces can be the

difference between a poop day and a non poop day. It is too small to

let upset you. It could be the difference in time of day of being

weighed.

I absolutely agree with you on backing down a little if he is

throwing up more! We have done the same thing on occasion and still

do every time gets sick.

Regarding the height measurement, our pediatrician's office never

measures as well as Dr H! I would ignore it if it seems totally

unrealistic.

Hang in there,
