Guest guest
Hi Jay, Based on what you are saying, I don't know if your son is RSS. Most (but not all) RSS children are definitely IUGR (or at least born significantly smaller than their siblings). Did you look at any of the photos? There is usually a definite " look " to RSS infants/toddlers which decreases as they get older. What type of doctor are you seeing on Friday? Keep in mind that in most cases, there is no test for RSS. It is a clinical diagnosis. Good luck, Judith, Steve, (RSS) and (non RSS) almost 4 year old twins
Guest guest
I am going to a Development specialist and an Endocrinologist. Yes, I saw the photos and I see some similiarities....His head is big now, but was in proportion at birth. He is still in 0-3 month pants, and I can sometimes get 3 month pants to stay on him, with shoes on...LOL His legs are really small, and I am actually a little upset that the docs didn't so anymore research on him after birth. His head excessive head groiwth has me more concerned than the fact that he isn't growing in weight or height Thanks Hi Jay, Based on what you are saying, I don't know if your son is RSS. Guest guest
Jay, Hi. Well, it is good that you are here so that maybe you can see some similarities or whatever and bring them up to the specialist and ask about RSS. I hope all goes well and you can find out what is going on. Let us know what happens, Jodi R. 's mommy > I am going to a Development specialist and an Endocrinologist. Guest guest
Hi Jay:-) Many times our kids are Dx with a psuedohydrocephalus and so was my daughter for a while. Her head growth tapered off for a few months and we thought we were done with it and we do have rather large heads in both my husbands and my family. It started to grow again for whatever reason and her fontanel still did not bulge. It only became rather full one time right after an airplane ride to se Dr H and she was very concerned. My daughter ended up having 5 MRI's and a CAT scan. Because we had so many the doctors could not a change in condition between the last two. Did she have pressure or not was the question except for the big head there were no other signs. She had a spinal tap and there was some pressure and again not terrible but it was there. We tried using medication first to get rid of the excess pressure and retapped her and the pressure was still there. Also later after having her stomach scoped they found a duodeum (sp) ulcer which goes hand and hand with pressure on the brain. They do not know why it just does. We resisted getting a shunt for so long and finally got one. I can not say it really helped her vomiting much though. I guess to all of you I need to say do not take a sudden jump in your childs head size lightly.
