Guest guest
Hi darlene, The mito cocktail is NOT responsible for what you are experiencing, but at least TWO of the other medication you are taking could DEFINITELY be contributing to the challenge. One of the most difficult issues I faced when working in a clinic that treated patients with hypertension and cardiac problems was compliance with taking medications because of the side effects associated with sexual drive/activity. The bigger challenge was finding medications in those classes of drugs that didn't cause problems. --- DarleneASP@... wrote: > I really, really don't want to offend anyone but I > gotta know. Guest guest
Darlene, Not sure if the sex issues are related to Mito or not, I have always had the low drive problem. But I have been lucky in that my husband often works 3rd shift and is tired when I am awake so it is not too much of a problem. Last year it started to be a slight problem. He turned 49 and I think was in mid life crisis. What is really wanted to write about was the fact that you are taking metformin. Back in 1997 after being diagnosed with Melas, I was officially diagnosed with diabetes. I had been borderline and gestionational with my son in 1992. Anyway, after " interviewing " gp docs to help with my treatment in Green Bay my gp sent me to a diabetes clinic at a local hospital. It has since closed unfortunately. The np there and I went thru a couple of medications that did not work. Then we were going to try glucophage. In a booklet they had printed up on the different meds it said that this may cause Lactic Acidosis. Being newly diagnosed and having had an episode where my left side went numb, recently having a spinal tap with high lactic acid results this jumped out to me right away. Below is an excerpt I found when I typed metaform on google. Could not find the website name. I do know that there are a couple of people with mito who have had no problem with metaform although they are watched closely by there physicians. Janet Sample WARNING: A small number of people who have taken GLUCOPHAGE have developed a serious condition called lactic acidosis. Lactic acidosis is caused by a buildup of lactic acid in the blood. This happens more often in people with kidney problems. Most people with kidney problems should not take GLUCOPHAGE or GLUCOPHAGE XR. (See " What are the side effects of GLUCOPHAGE and GLUCOPHAGE XR Sex issues I really, really don't want to offend anyone but I gotta know. Does anyone else have issues with sex and could it be related to Mito or the supplements we have to take. These are all my meds (some for Mito, some for other things) Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin C, CoQ10, Carnitine, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Prevacid, Actos, Metformin, Atenolol, Mirapex, and Lisinopril. This is causing a huge problem in my marriage and I'm at my wit's end. Darlene

I'm not sure about the blood sugar meds but diabetes can cause problems too. Guest guest
Janet My dad takes Glucophage and he has no problem with it. I was on Metformin before when I was trying to get pregnant. The fertility specialist said that taking Metformin in conjunction with Clomid would give me the best chance at getting pregnant. I couldn't tolerate either medication so I had to stop. I am taking the Metformin now for diabetes but I have stopped because I had diarrhea every morning and my blood sugar was getting too low. My endocrinologist told me that the sex issues have to be psychological because my body produces too much testosterone (I have PCOS) so if anything, I should have an overactive sex drive. yeah, right. My husband would love that! Darlene
Guest guest
Sounds like I have a lot going against me. Not only all this stuff but my hubby's ex was an actual, clinically diagnosed nymphomaniac! How do you compete with that? LOL Lisinopril is such a tiny, tiny pill. It's hard to believe it could cause any kind of problem. Darlene
Guest guest
I don't think you mentioned any, but some birth control pills lower sex drive. I usually don't have a problem with that, but when on Seasonale I noticed a distinct decrease in interest. I am on another pill now and am back to normal LOL. Is it a reproductive endocrinologist or just a " regular " endocrinologist? If the latter, maybe seeing more of a " specialist " , an RE, might be more appropriate for that issue. At the time I had a problem, I thought it was due to stress (I was working on my degree and have three kids), but changing pills made a noticeable difference (and the stress level was actually increased at the time, as it was just before I completed my degree and wasn't sure I was going to finish that semester). You may be on the right track that lack of interest is due to medication. Take care, RH > > Janet > > My dad takes Glucophage and he has no problem with it. Guest guest
Pamela, Though I'm hesitant to add another pill to my list, I think I'll try that. Thanks. Darlene
