Thanks Pat,

Judith ('s Mom) put me in touch with a pharmacy in NYC that makes the

Prilosec (the drug our insurance company approved) liquid preparation and they

DELIVER! If this treatment doesn't work, I have printed your solution and will

give it a try.

Many thanks for responding,

Hi Grazie,

My grandson, , is on Prevacid 2xdaily. When we first tried this med

the GI office told us to try dissolving it with apple juice. It DIDNT work!

Then we tried plain water, and this also didn't work. Finally, they told us

to try a baking soda/water mixture. The original mixture made too much, and

caused him to gag/vomit, so we experimented with watering it down, until we

found a mixture that didn't cause this reaction, but still dissolved the

med.

The recipe we now use is as follows:

2.5 tsp of baking soda

1/4c. warm water

1/2 capsule of Prevacid

We place the Prevacid in a 5cc syringe, and then draw up 4-5 cc of the

baking soda/water mixture. We shake the syringe until the granules are

dissolved, and then shoot it into his tube, followed by a 5-10cc water

flush. It seems to work well for him. No compounding pharmacy needed.

At our last GI visit, the GI changed B over to the chewable form. When he

starts on this, we will place half the tablet into the syringe, and just use

warm water to dissolve it.

Hope this helps
