Before I had started this diet different people had suggested to think about it, but I refuse all meds, tons of supps. or any drugs for him. Now , except for a GFCF antibiotic for when he had the strep, I still feel the same, except now there would be no need for any ritalin for LJ. I hope you can get a lot of responses to your posts by some moms that had problems with their children on these drugs and then even if you can't find a site with documented proof you could at least type up the emails from the moms and dads of what they went through. Are you friendly with your local pharmacist. Ask him if you could borrow the pamplet that comes with ritalin so you could photostat the " warning, precautions, side effects statement " and show them that at your meeting and just flatly tell them cause of all this you are not taking the chance. Guest guest
Having had my ADHD grandson on Ritalin for about 18 months, I told them there was no way that I would put Evan on Ritalin when it was suggested. It was suggested to me at a Regional Center clinic. Evan's present teacher does not care for Ritalin at all. But then she sees a Naturopath for herself. Evan has been on Risperdal but did not see much good from it. Ritalin killed 's appetite, made him very irritable in the afternoon when he was coming down off it. Toward the end, just before we tried Adderall, he was absolutely obnoxious. That though may be because he is bipolar and not ADHD. Now he is also on Paxil and if he does not get it with his Adderall he is again obnoxious. Evan's aide thinks the Risperdal makes Evan too out of it. I am trying a reduced amount of it to see how that works with his obsessive behavior. So far it has not done anything to help it.
