Guest guest
Does anyone know why Dr Dobbs tells parents to do stretches on their child's corrected feet. I've read quite a few mails about this lately and was wondering if it has something to do with the different brace he has designed. Dr Ponseti told us, when was treated by him in Iowa, that stretches were not necessary. Thanks and www.clubfoot.co.za http://www.clubfoot.co.za/> www.steps.org.za http://www.steps.org.za/>
Guest guest
karen... it is possible that it is the brace.. the brace actually goes up to mid-calf.. so the ankle motion is not as much as it would be with the mitchells or markells i don't think... but i like the boot he uses much better.. she has never had a blister or red mark or anything... and it is almost impossible to put it on " wrong " ... but i am guessing at the fact that it's the type of boot used.. mommy to Grace 12-03-03 BCF Dobb's Brace 16/7 Moss karen@...> wrote: Does anyone know why Dr Dobbs tells parents to do stretches on their child's corrected feet. Guest guest
I do know that he has been recommending these stretches for a long time, regardless of which brace is being used. Some of his patients are still using the traditional bar and shoes, some like us use the articulating brace with regular Markell shoes. I think the stretches are just a precaution on his part: I know Dr. P tells people that they aren't necessary but I think his feeling is that it certainly can't hurt to help maintain that flexibility.
