Just a reminder to anyone new or those who haven't taken the poll yet,

please check out the polls section and let me know if you are

interested in being contacted to participate in Dr. Dobbs Genetic Study

to locate the gene that causes clubfoot.

Dr. Dobbs is mostly interested in accepting new participants into the

study who have more than one family member affected by clubfoot.

For anyone who answers the poll indicating that they would like to

contact Dr. Dobbs directly he is using dobbsm@... for

patients interested in the study.

Thanks!

I replied as 'not interested' purely because we don't live in the US, I

don't know how I would begin to get all our blood over to Dr Dobbs...it's a

pity because we do have 2 members - my son and my cousin (my maternal aunt's

first son).

I will ask him about it -- he said he would pay for shipping costs but it just

may be prohibitive when dealing with dry ice as I think you would have to to get

it here. Thanks though!

We would be interested in people who are outside the US as well. We

can find an area hospital to go to and have the blood drawn. We

have worked with several people who are not in the US. If you are

interested please contact Dr. Dobbs.

I just got a reply from him as well, he said he would go to great

lengths to have you participate if you have several affected family

members. Usually he will try to identify what major city would be

near you and try to find a lab there that can do the DNA isolation for

him and then have that sent. The DNA is more stable then blood to send

overseas.

So anyway, if decide you want to you can contact him at

dobbsm@... for participating in the study.

Thanks,
