Guest guest
Hello all, I remember someone posting awhile ago about using Karo syrup to relieve constipation in little ones. Can anybody tell me about this or any other helpful hints? Thanks so much! Lori
Guest guest
How old is the baby? On Kelsey, I would give her a little bit of either prune or pear juice and when she got a bit older, she liked to eat the actual prunes. She only had one bad bout with constipation right after she started solids but this cleared it right up. Now, when it seems to me that she might be a little behind on the bowel movements, I try to use fruit but don't use bananas. They actually have a constipating effect as does rice. If the baby is really young, I don't know what to use. My girls never had the problem when they were teeny infants. Hope that helps some. Guest guest
About a Tablespoon of Karo will do it. It will clean the baby out pretty good. It is not something I am comfortable using frequently-that is just me-I don't know if it is a problem if you do. Pears seem to be a good bland food that helps push things on through also. Guest guest
Hi Lori. I have put corn syrup in my daughters bottles for several months now. Not every bottle, but 2 a day. She has super hard poop. The poor thing. They roll right off the diaper, which they shouldn't have BM's like this at this age. She is 12 months. Yesterday was her one year check-up and the ped told me to increase prunes and apricots. The corn syrup definitely works though. The only negative is she is a little chunk-chunk. All that sugar!! Guest guest
Definately pick up some pitted prunes, they will do the trick!! Grace had a bit of constipation when we started her on solids and when she strains (soo cute - hehe) I pull out the prunes. I just squish out the inside of the prune as the outer part is too tough for her and break it into bits and add it to the fruit I'm serving her for lunch and dinner. It's no wonder they get a bit constipated really, going from a totally liquid diet to grains etc! I soooo miss the " poopy roses " (what I called her B/F diapers)!! Now we have to flush these offensive things down the toilet! & Grace > > Hello all, > I remember someone posting awhile ago about using Karo syrup to > relieve constipation in little ones. Guest guest
I use the prune juice and add it to her bottle. Sounds gross I know but works well. We used it in the beginning of her castings (she couldn't bring her legs up to push with the casts on) then she adjusted on her own. Now she started whole milk so we just add the prune juice to 2 bottles a day. Guest guest
My son had terrible constipation around the time we went to cow's milk. I did the karo syrup, 1 tablespoon mixed with 1 ounce of warm water. We didn't want him to get used to drinking sweetened milk and that worked but not great. My doctor recommended Mineral oil. This worked wonders, not to sound gross but it lubricates from the inside. You mix 1 ounce of mineral oil with 1 ounce of hershey's syrup. You must shake it vigorously to ensure that it mixes and have the child drink it immediately. This worked great! Hope that helps! Dawn-Marie susan.shook@... wrote: Hi Lori.
