Hey all,

I can't believe it has taken me 10 days to let you all know my

little angle arrived! Having 3 to keep up with is a tough one,

making sure everyone gets some mom time and my oldest gets her

homework done and the middle daughter gets to cuddle with me when

I'm not nursing.

Emma Judith Grace Lambert arrived on May 7th at 9:57 a.m. she is 21

inches long and was 8lbs 4oz. She arrived via water birth at the

North Shore Birth Center, delivered into the hands of midwives. No

pain medication or IV. Everything went very well, except for a

little bleeding which got under control with some medication. Birth

story follows-->I went into labor after 3 days of bloody show and

then my labor started and I went in to get checked and was 1-2cm and

my contractions were about 10 mins apart. We took off to walk, but

just after leaving the contractions went to 5 mins apart and a short

time later to 3 mins apart. We went back to the birth center and

there was no real change so I got in the tub. Then things stalled

almost completely. We left there and went home around 9:30 p.m. to

eat and go to bed because I knew it would start up again if we went

home. Contractions started up again around 2 a.m. and I timed them

until 4:30 when I woke my husband up and then had 3 contractions in

a row that I shook through and was starting to make some noise. I

was 5 cm when we went back and I got in the tub. This time the

contractions didn't go away. I stalled at 6cm and asked for my

water to be broken around 9a.m. The contractions got to be one on

top of each other from that point and I have to say thank god for

that tub, it really helped me keep myself focused and I could get

into any position or just float. She was born after 4 pushes and

she cried when her face was out of the water, she really only cried

once and then just looked around at everyone. I got out of the tub

to deliver the placenta and then after a few hours of rest,

transfered over to the hospital for some " rest " , that was a joke. I

should have gone home and had a visiting nurse.

Emma has incredible sucking power but a tiny mouth so we have had a

few glitches nursing. I had no problems nursing my two older

daughters (they both had big mouths), we had problems latching on

correctly which I had to teach her to open her mouth bigger. Now we

have thrush, but we are both on medication so it is slowly getting

better. She is very sweet, she moves around just as much as she did

when she was still inside. I lost 32lbs in the first 6 days

following the birth. Shockingly, I don't know this body at all. I

was just out of surgery when I got pregnant so I really didn't get

to experience any weightloss benefits or really see much progress

because I began to show right away. I have the beginnings of

starting to look thin which is so surprizing. It's nice to see that

I have made progress since I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary

of my surgery on May 21st.

I hope everyone else is doing well.

Jenn, mom of almost 8 years, Caroline 4 1/2 years and Emma 10

days old.
