Guest guest
I would definently bring that up to Shriners. Your point is 100% legitamate and if Shriners doesn't have a decent reason then the policy needs to be re-considered. Freeman
Guest guest
OK - this has been bugging me since I posted about it the other day but I don't know if I should bring it up to Shriners or not. If Shriners can spend 2K per foot on AFO's... Why can't they spend $380 on a brace that works? I am NOT complaining. I am absolutely willing to find the funds for the P/M brace (P/M is the Ponseti/ brace - I'm not going to write it all out anymore and am coining an acronym so to speak - let's see if it catches on lol) and I really don't mind. But what is the point in saying that the Shrine can't pay for it when they're paying thousands out for ineffective braces already? Where's the logic in that? Is there some kind of approval process a brace needs to be accepted at Shriners? Are ANY Shriners hospitals using this brace yet? If not, anyone know what the holdup is and how we can get it approved if needed? I just don't get it. At least dh is willing to try this brace to see if her toes straighten out a bit. He doesn't want his daughter to have crookedy toes either hehe... he appreciates pretty toes on women lol! (course he doesn't think much of mine) Kori
Guest guest
Kori, It is so true and so a!@ backwards! Here in Canada, surgery for cf is fully covered but we pay for the brace (except for 2 enlightened provinces). It makes no sense whatsoever, this form of treatment is so much cheaper, not to mention how much more effective it is, it makes absolutely no sense! I would talk to and see if he would endorse your endeavour and perhaps compose a little something for you to submit to Shriners. After all, it would be a good thing for him if Shriners were to cover the Ponseti brace! Good luck and you go girl!!! & Grace > I would definently bring that up to Shriners.
