Guest guest
I just need to know if anyone else's family out there just doesn't have a clue about our kids. I was talking with my mother tonight and I wanted to bang my head on the wall instead of continuing the conversation. My son Otis (3.10), who was diagnosed in February with PDD-NOS, was placed in a preschool class (and is provided with speech and occupational therapy and home ABA) right after his diagnosis. Three days after starting school I placed him on the gfcf diet. He has already made great strides, but is no where near where I know he will be. My mother told me she sees a difference in him and then said all he needed was to be around other kids and he would be fine. Aaaaaagh!! Like this was going to make him " all right " . I told her he needed to be taught how to socialize, that this just doesn't come naturally to him and she started to give me that " you're over-reacting " tone. When are people going to get a clue about our kids and what they need to be a participating member of our world?
