Guest guest
Ok the day had come and gone, I was very prepared, brought my black file box and all. Two hours into after everyone had their say, the chairman began to summerize that the behaviors indicated on the chart that the teacher presented -80%-100% most of the year except the feb/march SAD months, would indicate that did not have PDD/NOS or Autistic spectrum issues because the behaviors would be more irradict and severe. I exploded in the most professional controlled mannor I was sooooo proud of myself. Twelve people in all were present. I said how dare you question the diagnosis' of not one but two professionals and that I had enough of the on going comments for the last two year of " and what doctor said this " and " what is his degree " and whhoooo diagnosised that? and You had this cofirmed by what kind of doctor? and your doctor SUPPORTS this diet? the school district psycologist is saying Ohhh nobodys saying that and I said firmly yes - this has been going on for two years now and it stops now. you have all the documentation you need confirming this issues in his folder and in his IEP already and will not tolerate his diagnosis' being questioned again. Latter in the meeting again they tried to say I should trust the professionals judgement to choose and assement tool they know best and again I said no way- not one person at this table that works with on a daily basis is an expert on autism/pdd Just once they started to say but his dx is not autism and i firmly corrected them saying pdd is on the autistic spectrum. The long and short is that a functional behavior assesement will be compelted by a professional outside the district trained in autism and highly recommend by the one OT therapist who is trained in sensory intergration- who seems to really have her finger on the specific area of dysfuction that tyes in all of s deficits. She agreed to consult on the assesment and the assesment will also evaluate speech. And the teacher will add restraint dates to his progress report!!! no __________________________________________________
