Guest guest
Our fundraising is coming along great and I can now officially say " WE'RE GOING TO CHICAGO!! " We're so excited to meet all of you and can't wait to take everything in, I'm sure that we'll still be digesting all of it 2 months later, lol. We set up a trust fund for Olivia at a local bank and with the help of the newspaper articles we've recieved over $1000.00 from private donations alone. We gave a presentation to the Lions Club and we're waiting to hear back from them right now. Our friend is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and they're holding a benefit dance for Olivia on May 8th. They're donating the hall for it and we'll recieve funds from the ticket sales, liquor sales, 50/50 draws, a meat draw and from the burgers that they'll get donated. Our friends 13 year old son has asked his Youth Group if they can do a bottle drive and they thought that was a great idea. (this was all on his own and we're very proud of him!) Trent's work has donation tins at all of the main entrances to the buildings with our news story on them, they're having a bottle drive at work, donation's can be made from their swipe cards in the cafeteria, and if the office staff would like to wear casual clothes on friday they are asked to pay $2.oo (not mandatory of course) A nice lady in town makes baskets to raffle off at the bank and then she decides who she wants the money to go to and for the Easter basket she picked Olivia! We were stunned to recieve a cheque for $181.00! Trent's dad has worked for Safeway for 30 years and they are also planning a fundraiser but we're not sure what they're doing quite yet, he's also a Lieutenant on the fire department and they want to help also. My girlfirend is still going to have a cut a thon for Olivia but we're waiting for warmer weather so that they can do it outside to attract more customers. Sorry that this got so long but we've been working so hard to get to Chicago and we're amazed at how our small town (8000 people) is rallying around us. Still in shock at all of it but so happy at the same time. Good luck to everyone else that's doing fundraisers, let me know if I can help anyone with ideas or anything. We can't wait to see everyone there!!!!! Leah, mom to Ash 9 and Olivia 4.5yrs, 18lbs, 33 " (lactulose, senokot, zantac)
