Guest guest
My son is still in the shoes 23/7 so I'm not sure of everything, but I saw urgent and thought I'd try to give you some place to look. Try looking at past posts and entering curling toes in the search. Other parents have mentioned curling toes before and that sounds like what your son is doing. Also call your DR in the morning and express your concern with your son not being able to keep the shoes on and mention the toe curling.Don't give up hope there's help and tomorrow more people should chime in with their experiences. Guest guest
Hi, My DD is also just over 1. She goes through phases where she hates the shoes and then other times doesn't seem to mind them. When she is in a bad phase I just wait until she has been sleeping about a ½ hour then go in and put the shoes on and she hardly ever even wakes up. The shoes are very important, if he relapses he will have to go back into casts or have surgery. I am sure you don't want to have to try and deal with him in casts when he can't walk or move his legs much at all. Keep trying to put them on him as much as possible. Just remember that you are doing what is best for him and sometimes you might have to listen to him fuss about his shoes. Good luck!
Guest guest
Hi there, I'm sorry to hear that you are having such trouble with the FAB. I AM a little concerned with the number of hours that he is wearing the brace though. How many hours per day was recommended by your sons doctor? I have never heard of any Ponseti doctors prescribing the brace for naps only....it would usually be nights and naps which usually equals 12-14 hours. At the very least, nights only would be the recommendation until brace wear is discontinued. I don't mean to alarm you but it is well documented that non-compliance with the brace will in most, if not all cases, lead to a relapse of the deformity. What doctor does your son see? It may be worth getting a second opinion or getting further treatment.
