Guest guest
Most doctors recomend 12-18 months post WLS before you get pregnant to allow for your body to be stabilized and in the best nutritional health. That being said there are many people who get pregnant way before that(me included at 5.5 month but not intentionally) and have a healthy pregnancy and healthy normal weight baby - NO Complications. I guess it all depends on your body and where you are in your WLS journey. You can do it - in fact many many poeple find it easier to concieve (even infertile ones like me) post op but I would personally recomend waiting at least a year to 18 months unless your surgon says go for it. Should I wait a little longer or does it matter.
Guest guest
Hi there, well to start with and I'm pretty sure most if not all doctors feel the same but this is what my doctor's told me. You shouldn't start trying until you're at least 12 months out and your weight has stabilized. Well my wt. was stable for like a month or 2 and I was 12 mo. Oct.16, 2003 and conceived Nov.11, 2003 so I was just at that mark lol. Since I had problems conceiving prior to my WLS I didn't imagine it being so easy. I mean I thought I'd be good to go to get pregnant but damn it was easy lol. My eating habits have not changed. There were some times I did eat a little more or a little less just because of still being hungry or not being hungry but as far as quality of food it's the same and in 32 wks. I've gained between 21-22 lbs. but everyone is different. No matter what, baby will get the nutrients first then you so don't worry and there have been plenty of people that get pregnant at different stages following WLS that had perfectly healthy pregnancies and babies as well.
