I'm taking the liberty (sp) of changing Olivia's dosage from 5ml

max down to 3ml max. We started with a very small dose of 0.5ml and

I was wondering if I should increase this to 1.5ml (which is 1/2 of

the new max dose) as per what Dr.h has told you and other parents??

Just wondering if this would be too much to start with? I guess

that I'd just lower the dose and then start ramping it up again if

she reacts? If we stay at the 0.5 increments it's going to take

forever to get to 3ml x 2!!!!

I hope this isn't too confusing!! Just wanted to know what you

thought.

I really shouldn't comment because I don't know the caliber/mg of

her meds, and I am not a doctor. You guys can understand the legal

leg I try to balance on volunteering with MAGIC.....

So, that being said. What I can tell you is that Dr. Harbison

recommends starting with 50% of the DINNER dose, and giving this

every day for a week. Then move to 100% of the DINNER dose, again

every night for week 2. Now add in 50% of the BREAKFAST done in

week 3, while still continuing with 100% of the dinner dose. If

after 3 days or so, the child is still tired or cranky, move back to

25% or so (use your judgment). With the younger ones who still

take naps in the day, you may be just fine. Then finally at week 4,

you would move up to 100% of breakfast dose and 100% of dinner dose.

Don't give up though! For example, my own daughter has a tough time

with the breakfast dose. We are at 100% of the dinner dose but only

about 70% of the breakfast dose, and this after 3 years.... It is

better to give 70% than to quit at 100% because she is too cranky,

ya know?
