Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm ECSTATIC to report that I'm now 5 weeks pregnant with my first baby!!! In case anyone had followed that thread about birth control, I was the person who had taken Lunelle for a full year, and was terrified that because of it I wouldn't be able to conceive. I have a couple of questions for all of you wise ladies: I've been taking 1mg daily of folic acid ever since january, but I've recently read that that amount may not be enough post-WLS? My regular doc just prescribed 5mg just in case, and said if I felt it was necessary I could take it twice daily. What's all your experience with this? I had my surgery in 2001 and lost 99% of the excess weight, so I'm pretty sure at this point I absorb nutrients pretty well, considering the WLS. Also, my OB-GYN is very cautious about mercury, so she's taken fish almost completely off my diet; I can only eat it once a month. I'm worried about Omega 3 consumption though, which I understand is very necessary for the developing baby. Is flaxseed oil a good source? How much daily should I take? Any and all answers will be VERY appreciated! Thanks a bunch!
Guest guest
Hi . Congrats from a fellow 1st timer!! I ain't wise by any stretch of the imagination, but here goes: My B12/folate levels have been checked half a dozen times during my 2 1/2 yrs post-op. Re the mercury, I've been an almost paranoia case during my 1st trimester, haven't touch fish. Had shrimp once, heard that the shorter the lifespan, the less chance of it accumulating unsafe merc levels. Tilapia is supposed to be o.k. A while back, my local supermarket featured " farm raised " salmon, whatever the heck that is, hehe. I guess the buggers were raised in a controlled environment or somethin'. Personally, I'm deferring a bunch of things till the 2nd trimester, like a routine teeth cleaning(no x-rays, have always hated 'em), the occasional 'safer' fish ingestion, etc. WlsMomma 13 wks, 2 days > I have a couple of questions for all of you wise ladies: > Any and all answers will be VERY appreciated! > Thanks a bunch! >
