Dear Farmworker Health Providers, Researchers and Advocates:

The North Carolina Community Health Center Association invites you to attend the 18th Annual East Coast Migrant Stream Forum, "Cuerpo Sano, Mente Sana: Healing the Body and Mind in Farmworker Health," October 20-22, 2005, at the Memphis Marriott Downtown & Cook Convention Center, in Memphis, Tennessee.

As part of a focus on farmworkers' mental health, a priority health issue that challenges both farmworker and health care communities, this year's Forum and research track features workshops that aim to improve providers' ability to recognize, diagnose, treat and prevent mental health issues among farmworker patients using culturally-appropriate clinical and community-based interventions. Dr. ph Hovey, PhD, Program for the Study of Immigration and Mental Health, University of Toledo, will be present to share current knowledge about farmworkers' mental health and facilitate a dialogue with researchers and others about future directions for research in this critical area. The research track will also highlight workshops that address occupational injuries and health, community-based research, IRBs, migrant children's health, HIV/STD risk, and chronic disease outcomes. A full registration brochure detailing the workshop schedule may be downloaded from www.ncchca.org. The early-bird registration deadline is September 19, 2005. A limited number of scholarships are available to support attendance at the Forum. Scholarship applications and other general conference information can also be found at www.ncchca.org. The deadline to apply for a scholarship is September 14, 2005. Please feel free to share this information with others. We hope to see you in Memphis in October! A. Triantafillou, MPH
