Guest guest
Believe it or not.. my OB is not going to do the Prenatal Blood work until I am 16 weeks pregnant... She KNOWS I am Gastric Bypass only 4 months out.. and she herself is a Gastric Bypass patient .. year next month. I am not entirely keen on the idea to wait until 16 weeks.. so I will go back to my surgeons office and have them script out a CBC and Full Panel. I too am VERY tired.. but that is 100% completely normal for me in my first trimester. I know I am getting plenty of iron.. and b12 in my chewables... but I still want to see the bloodwork.. You may just be tired because you are making a baby! - Mommy to: Noah - 10/14/02 - 31 weeker - 3lbs 11 oz edd November 18th m/c 7/04 Open RNY 12/3/03.... -49 lbs gone and counting
Guest guest
i did a series of bloodwork when I went to the OB for the first visit. Now all I do is pee in a cup each visit. I did get a lab slip yesterday at my visit for my thyroid to be checked cause I am on the meds for that and for a fasting blood sugar, since I already told them NO GLUCOSE TEST for me. I did have a complete workup at my surgeons office right before I got prego and everything was perfect yet I was also tired in my first few months of pregnancy. I think that is what you are going thru. The first few month are like a rollercoaster ride with many ups and downs but we make it through it all and it is ssoo worth it in the end. Therefore, he called my surgeon, and they discussed it, and he ordered the B12 blood test in addition to the routine prenatal blood tests. I'm glad, too, because it turned out that my B12 was below normal, for the first time since my surgery, 2 1/2 years ago! So, I was put on B12 shots immediately. I've never given myself shots before, but it wasn't that hard. I figured it out on my own. When I went back for my 12 week appointment, this week, he ordered another B12 test just to make sure that my levels are going up. I'm eager to see the results, but they're not in yet. Anyway, so I would recommend that you ask your OB if the routine bloodwork will include a B12 test, and if not, to please order one.
