Guest guest
I'm glad it helped Beth! Lindsey talks like a much younger child, and shes been in speech therapy since she been 18 months old. Do you have a hard time understanding your son at times? How big is he by the way? Is he on GH? Just wondering since our kids are the same age! Guest guest
Jennie, Matt is 7 years, 5 months. He is not RSS, but SGA. He has been on GH since last June. We are late starters at this. Matt was adopted, was always small and the doctors just felt he would always be small. We have come to realize his reflux he had his first year of life never went away and now have a kid who doesn't like to eat, has no appetite and is small. So, we are on GH, allergy meds for his food allergies, acid meds for his stomach, Periactin for appetite, and Ritalin for his ADHD, so medically we have things covered. But he needs speech and OT and PT. We live out of the country and need to get back. Mexico is great, and we have had tons of fun, but they don't have any kind of school services like Matt needs. I can understand him, but other people have a hard time. I always thought he was lazy or in too big of a rush to pronounce clearly, but I am thinking there is more to it than that. Right now Matt is 115 cm tall and 20 kg, which is about 44 pounds and 45 inches tall. I just posted new pictures of him in the Photo section under Matt H. It is a pre Gh and post GH picture. What grade is in? I am worried about what grade he will be placed in when we get back to the states! Beth > I'm glad it helped Beth! Guest guest
He's a handsome boy, Do you think he might have RSS? Lindsey was diagnosed with RSS a few years ago, but I still have my doubts. I personally feel shes too big! The genetics Dr said if it wasnt for her dad being 6'3 she would not be as big as she is...She does have many RSS traits regardless. Lindsey is in first grade, she should be in 2nd. She's on strattera for ADHD and Risperdal for OCD/Tics. Theres gone now thankfully. She will be starting Zyprexa instead of Risperdal, because she is too skinny. She was 40 pounds yesterday at the Drs office and 46 1/2 inches tall I think. The Zyprexa should put some weight on her,he hopes. I agree, your son needs the right therapies, Just continue to show him how to say words correctly. Lindsey also gets OT and hippotherapy(PT on a horse) Lindseys picture is in the file section I think. Shes changed some since they are a little old. She is 7.9 now. Guest guest
Jennie, Dr H saw Matt at convention last year and said No to the RSS. I really agree. At first I wondered, but he doesn't have any of the facial/assymetry issues, but seems like he has everything else! Can I ask what kind of school work your daughter is doing in the 1st grade? I am worried that Matt is not up to speed on where he needs to be to enter 2nd grade next year. You can email me privately if you prefer: jhultq @infosel.net.mx, without the space. Thanks Beth H. > He's a handsome boy, Do you think he might have RSS? > Lindsey was diagnosed with RSS a few years ago, but I still have my doubts. I personally feel shes too big! Guest guest
I don't mind saying Lindsey is delayed. She is in a kindergarten/first grade class combined, but only her and another special needs child is the first graders! There are like 110 words the first grader needs to know how to read. Lindsey knows maybe 10. This has been our main focus; getting this girl to read! She gets tutored at my house 2 times a week and is making nice progress.
