Guest guest
Hi , I'm caretaker for my dear husband, Dewayne (DW for short). He has very bad central apnea and uses a c-pap. The last sleep study showed over 400 episodes of stopped breathing. His doctor tells us " he is special..and sometimes that isn't good " . I always knew DW was special:) He also takes Provigil each day....it does help some. He still gets very sleepy some days and goes straight to sleep as soon as he gets in a vehicle. (He doesn't drive except here on the farm occasionally) He is using a FP machine that really isn't too noisy....hear the rush of wind. He has a full face mask too....the nasal pillows didn't work for him. If you need further info, please let us know. Blessings, Lynda R {SPAMFILTER} Central apnea and breathing support Any of the adults here have central apnea? I recently had a sleep study and it found that I have upper respiratory resistance syndrome with mild sleep fragmentation. I awakened 86 times with this. I also had one episode of central apnea and awakened with this. I desatted to 89%. They did an MSLT which showed moderate hypersomnolence. The nurse reported the hypersomnolence to me in a rather hushed voice. I said, " so you're saying I'm tired, right? " The PCP wants me to see a pulmonologist. He's also recommending BiPAP and ritalin. I think I'd like to be aggressive with the BiPAP but am not interested in the ritalin. Any ideas about the quietest BiPAPs and CPAPs? What about comfortable air pillows, etc. Don't think I'd be compliant with a mask. I need a quiet machine because hubby and I have to hear 's alarms.Any of the adults here have central apnea?
