Guest guest
Maloy, has had a feeding therapist since he was 1 year old. In the last 6 months, his eating has picked up tremendously and he is down to 3 hours of formula during the day and 10 at night. My guess is that this number will be decreasing further shortly. Not only did he eat dinner last night at 6 pm, at 8 pm he " asked " for food (he doesn't actually ask, he climbs into a high chair which means " feed me. " ) Is Tori capable of eating? Does she eat anything? I am pretty sure this has come up before and someone did do the intensive feeding therapy, but I can't remember when or where or who. Guest guest
Maloy feeding clinic Maloy, I actually looked into a couple of feeding clinics in the DC area last year for Jake. Since that time his oral feeding has dramatically increased and we decided it was not necessary. I do remember calling around and most programs were pretty intense. They seem to do extensive consultation to pick a program that works well for your individual needs. I am very interested to see where you are looking into and how it goes. Guest guest
Judith, Tori presently get three day time feeds of 140 cc over a half hour period then 570 cc at night usually over an 8 hour period rate is set at 80cc. Yes she can and is capable of eating. She doesn't eat any large volume of anything. Sometimes she may ask for something. She just started asking for juice and if you give her choices she will pick something some of the time. Maloy Re: Maloy feeding clinic Maloy, has had a feeding therapist since he was 1 year old. Guest guest
Maloy, If she is capable of eating, then you may want to just experiment with the feeds. What would happen if you delayed the lunch feed and offered her food instead. Tell her if she eats lunch, she won't need the pump for so long. If she does eat some food, then give her 1/2 her lunch pump instead of the whole thing and make a big deal about how she only needed the pump for 1/2 the usual time. Guest guest
Judith, I have with held the pump feeds to see how she would do with having the meal first. Sometimes she eats but very little maybe 5 bites. She is talking more about food and loves pretend play. So I think it will come with time. I just don't know how long the Dr. want to wait for it to kick in. Thanks for the advise Maloy Re: Maloy feeding clinic Maloy, If she is capable of eating, then you may want to just experiment with the feeds.
