Guest guest
Toi, I did this with Hannah until she was born. It was definitely comforting to see her every week to know that she was doing ok, but stressful on me when they kept telling me that my fluid was low and to drink more and take it easy, especially since I was drinking all the time and doing nothing but going to appointments! I wouldn't worry too much about the lack of movement, there were times that Hannah was not very cooperative in that aspect either. I would try to schedule the appointment at a time when I knew she was active and before I took any of my pain medication just in case that slowed her down. Sometimes if the techs seems particularly concerned about her " sleepiness " I would drink something cold and/or start poking my tummy to get her to move. That was really fun when they were doing the ultrasound because I could see the pokes on the screen and then her wiggle in response. Don't let the techs get you too concerned about the lack of movement or heart stuff, trust more of your gut instinct. There were tons of times where Hannah was not moving much during the test and sure enough, as soon as they took me off the monitor she would start her " morning aerobics " as I would call them. One time they had me hooked up to the heart monitor and she started her aerobics, it got so loud that the nurse couldn't hear the other lady that they were monitoring, LOL! You keep those little ones cooking as long as they need too, your their mommy and you know what's best! Do they have an estimate of their weight? Axelrod My NST Sooo... went and had my first (of many more to come) non-stress tests today and the babies didn't feel like cooperating much. The tech was able to pick up our daughter's heartbeat really easily, but within seconds of finding our son's heartbeat, he would move and his monitor would start picking up her heartbeat. After chasing him around for a while we we able to find the most accurate position for the monitor and then had to hold it there manually. The tech told me its often hard to get steady readings on multiples since both monitors can pick up one heart beat. So the results were... not bad. Not excellent, but not bad. They kept me strapped up for a long time because she wasn't seeing much of a rise in their (especially our son's) heartbeats when they moved. Basically their hb's stayed the same, a healthy beat with little change. There were a few little dips in our son's heart rate when he would move around, but they would level out quickly and resume a normal rhythm. The Labor and Delivery " boss " didn't seem concerned about the dips and my OB said they could go ahead and send me home since his heart rate rose back up to normal so quickly. The concern is that the babies are just growing so fast and are big enough that their movements are very restricted already. I'm not a very big person and I don't have a lot of torso room to provide for these little ones that are measuring larger than their gestational ages. I'll continue getting my weekly ultrasounds and weekly (maybe twice weekly now) NSTs. I'm worried that the doc is going to say we need to get the babies here sooner than later. Our desire was to keep them cooking for at least another 3 weeks, but that may not happen if the lack of room shows more drops in heart rate. Well.. whatever we have to do for the three of us to make it through this all nice and healthy we'll do. Take care and have a good weekend. I'm finally done with work for a while and am beginning my partial bed rest this weekend. Guest guest
Both babies are very close and their estimated weight is around 4.5 lbs each. Their heart beats are both strong, but I worried that our little boy's heart rate dipped a couple of time while he was moving. Makes me worry about where his cord might be (. Our little girl's heart rate rose as it should during movement. I did schedule my next NST for a time when I know they are most active, lol. Just watch, they'll decide to take it easy and relax at that time. I guess I am reassured knowing I'm being watched closely. The closer we get the more and more anxious I get. Thanks for the reassurance . How is that little Hannah doing these days, anyway? Guest guest
Toi, It sounds like you had a good visit overall. I went to weekly NST's with my daughter and sometimes she didn't move at all but they never seemed too worried as things changed as I went along. I am sure your next visit will be totally different and they will be moving like crazy. Best wishes to you and take good care of yourself. When are they looking at delivering the babies?
