Guest guest
......yes, Imogen has this problem. Movies and shows are always a problem which is such a shame for her as these are nice things! But earplugs??? Why didn't I think of that????? Mind you...the earplugs would have to be miniscule sized to fit her teeny ears!! Eileen(Imogen RSS age 6 3 feet (3 feet tall...she doesn't have 3 feet....) When he was younger he would sit in my lap and I would cover his ears with my hands. Then I discovered the wax ear plugs that swimmers use, so I kept a pair in my purse. Nowadays, he can handle the movies but not loud music in the car or the TV up too loud. Guest guest
The ones I used were like a little ball of wax that you roll in your fingers and then stick to the ear. You don't actually push them down inside the ear. They were also reusable. I think there were about 18 neon colored balls of wax in the little clear plastic case they came in. Guest guest
- Actually, what you are describing is very common among the general population. Some RSS children are sensory-sensitive -- often tactile and oral-motor -- and this may include a heightend noise sensitivity. But nothing in the research shows that this is specific to RSS children. My non-RSS son Tyler still is noise sensitive. Has to wear earplugs for fireworks, etc. Cringes and hides with loud noises, can't stand tags on the inside neck of his shirt, has to have his socks and shoes fit " just so.... " UGH!!!! Can drive me nuts sometimes!
Guest guest
--...I hate to agree lol but my 13 yr old non rss daughter had a thing about the seams in her socks for ages!! She would fold them over so that they were poking out of her shoes!! I suppose it's too easy to attribute a lot of things to RSS!!
