Guest guest
Dear Chrissy, This sort of thing has happened with Finlay in the past. Its very difficult to maintain blood sugar levels when the volume that Maddy will tolerate is so low. One thing you can do is add extra glucose to her overnight feed - but you have to be really careful becuase if you add too much it can cause diarrea - to be honest if she is tolerating so little over night and losing weight with blood sugars out of control - I think what I would be doing is taking her in for IV sugars to get her stable. Sometimes the vomiting at night can be caused by low blood sugars so it really is a catch 22. It sounds like Dr H is not able to be contacted but would your local hospital admit her without Dr H having to be contacted? Could some one from Dr H's team communicate with your local drs instead? Let me know how you go. Will be thinking about you > I received the following email from Chrissy. She is really upset > about her daughter Maddy and needs some advice. I already told her > to call Dr. H.'s office and speak to the fellow on-call who knows > how to reach Dr. H. in Hawaii, but she would really like to hear > from some of you, too.
